Want to be an Urban Farmer? Findlay Market wants YOU!
Calling all farmers and gardeners looking for training and land for market production growing for 2010: Findlay Market’s Urban Farm program is now taking applications from experienced farmers and apprentice, soon-to-be farmers.
The Corporation for Findlay Market will be sponsoring up to 10 applicants as:
- Farmers (at least two years growing and commercial selling of produce,
dairy, or meats)
and
- Apprentice Farmers (having less than two years experience).
Joint applications (several people working collaboratively as one group) are encouraged.
Applications are now being accepted; interviews will start in late February. Farmers accepted into the program begin work in mid-March with weekly classes: They will write business plans and plan their planting season. Produce sales will start as soon as farmers are able to harvest early vegetables. Income starts with sales.
